The
Beckman Band Program has several groups that perform throughout the
school year including, Marching Band, High School and Junior High
Concert Bands.
Kyle
Amati is the Director of Bands at Beckman Catholic High School where he
conducts the High School Concert Band, Marching Band, High School Jazz
Band, Jr. High Concert Band, Jr. High Jazz Band, and Musical Pit
Orchestra/Band. Prior to his appointment at Beckman, he
served as the Interim Associate Director of Bands at Arrowhead Union
High School in Hartland Wisconsin, the Brass Coach and Band Intern at
Maine West High School in Des
Plaines Illinois, as well as acted as a music substitute teacher for
various
schools in the Chicago suburbs.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Music Education
and a minor in Jazz Studies from Augustana College (Rock Island, IL). During
his time at Augustana, Mr. Amati performed with the Symphonic Band, Symphony
Orchestra, and the Jazz Ensemble. He also directed the College’s student lead
pep band for 2 years. Mr. Amati has had the privilege to have studied trombone
under Dr. Samantha Keehn (Augustana College), Dr. Jemmie Robertson (Eastern
Illinois University), and Casey Maday (Drake University), also he has studied
conducting with Dr. James Lambrecht
Mr. Amati holds active membership in the National Association
for Music Educators, National Band Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia men’s
music fraternity. He aspires to work with a band of his own as he pursues a
Masters and Doctoral degree in Wind Conducting.
